My wife, who became a Youtuber, decided to open a bank account to receive the money from Google. I was going to get her to open a bank account when she came to Japan, but she didn't want to do that because she can use my family's credit card to pay for her mobile phone and other bills, but she needs to have a bank account to receive the money.
So I considered which bank to open an account with. I thought in a nearby bank, but excluded the branch office will be closed within the year due to consolidation of branches. Considering that she will live and return to Cebu eventually, the account is good to be able to withdraw from ATMs abroad. The Japan Post Bank had an international card that can be used in ATMs overseas before, but no longer. So I decided to open an account at Sony Bank, where I have a bank account.
Sony Bank doesn't have any physical branches, but she can make deposits and withdrawals from partner banks and convenience store ATMs, which is convenient, and she can also withdraw money from ATMs that accept VISA abroad. It's also safe to say that she'll be notified by email when a transfer or withdrawal is made to her account.
So I applied for an account at Sony Bank on the web, sent them a copy of her residence card and an original copy of my certificate of residence. if there was no problem, she can opened the account and sent her the card. There are two designs of the card, and my wife chose a post pet design. By the way, My card is a plain standard design.
The bank card arrived safely earlier this week, but my wife is a little unhappy with it. She's not happy with the way her name is written. Japanese people only have a first and last name, but Filipinos have a middle name. Residence cards and resident's certificates have their middle names neatly separated, but the Sony Bank card doesn't have a space between the first and middle names.
Sony Bank is a Japanese bank, they don't support the use of middle names. Even on the application form, Sony Bank instructed me to write her name and middle name in succession.
'Well, it doesn't really matter either way,' I think, roughly, but my meticulous wife didn't like it.
And the design was better than the standard one I have, she said. But it was her own choice.
Anyway, She've successfully opened her bank account. Now I'm happy and satisfied with the fact that she can receive her earnings from Google.
