I thought about Tora-san and the state of his family.

Whether you like it or not, there is one character that every adult Japanese person knows: Hooten no Tora-san.

I watched Tora-san's "Otoko wa Tsuraiyo 50: The Return of Tora-san" on Amazon.
I usually watch movies with my wife, but this movie is only in Japanese, so I watched it alone.

In "Otoko wa Tsuraiyo," Torajiro Kuruma, played by Kiyoshi Atsumi, is the main character. Tora-san, who is working as a salesman, meets a beautiful woman (Madonna) on his travels and they always have a good relationship, but it never becomes more than friends.

There have been 48 films in total, and the Guinness Book of World Records has certified that this is the longest series in which the same actor has played the same role.
Tora-san has a younger sister and an aunt and uncle in Shibamata, Tokyo, and as he remembers, he wanders back to Shibamata, causes a ruckus, and then goes on another trip.

Tora-san is charming when he is on the road, but for some reason, when he returns to his family in Shibamata, he becomes a crass, stubborn, selfish nuisance.

I guess I should say that I have a good exterior, or maybe it's because I don't need to be reserved when He is with his family.
Even so, he has a bad mouth but a kind heart, making him an unlikable character.

Tora-san's family and the people surrounding him in Shibamata are aware of this, so even though there are skirmishes, he is not a hated figure.
Well, he's a pain in the ass, isn't he?
I think that a family should be a relationship where you can say what you want to say.
When you go out into the world, you can't do that, but the home is the place where you can be your naked self.
And I think it is my family that accepts me as such.

Like a kite with a broken string, Tora-san seems to have no idea where he is, but he has a place to go.
I think the reason why audiences can watch this film with peace of mind is because they know that Tora-san, who is living a rootless life, has a home and family in Shibamata, and that he has solid roots.

I believe that people are able to spread their wings freely because they have a family and a place to return to.
