About half of Filipinos thought life would be better next year than it is now, according to a Manila Times.
The survey, conducted in October by OSTA Research, found that 51% of respondents said their lives will improve in the next six months. 40% say it will stay the same. Only 6% say it will get worse.
Notably, in the Visayas (centered on Cebu) region, 65% say it will get better. On the other hand, in the Mindanao (including Davao) region, only 42% think it will get better.
At the same time, the Bank of Japan released a survey with similar results.
According to the survey, 10.5% said the economy will improve, 42.9% said it will worsen, and 46% said it will remain the same.
Even if we assume that Filipinos are more optimistic and Japanese are relatively pessimistic, this is a large difference. Moreover, in the case of Japan, compared to one year ago, the number of respondents who said things will get better decreased by 15.5%, while the number of those who said things will get worse increased by 21.9%.。
The difference between countries with growing economies and those with stagnant or shrinking economies can be seen in these surveys.
My own answer would be "not much different."。
The year 2022 will soon be over, and I hope that next year will be as good as possible.
