Caution! Jail awaits you if you cheat in the Philippines!

The SunStar Cebu web edition recently reported the arrest of a man who was having a secret meeting at a certain hotel in Lapu-Lapu City.

According to the article, the man's wife and her friend caught the man entering the hotel with a woman, and she contacted the city police, who arrested the man and his mistress in the hotel room.

Such incidents are often reported in Philippine newspapers.
In Japan, the police do not intervene in civil cases of unfaithfulness, but in the Philippine penal code, there is a crime of adultery, and if a married spouse is found to be having an affair, he or she can be arrested and sent to jail.

In the Philippines, the excuse that "I got a little carried away and had an affair" is not acceptable.
Of course, this applies not only to Filipinos, but also to foreign nationals. In fact, I have a feeling that foreigners are sentenced more harshly than Filipinos.

If you have a Filipino spouse, do not even think of cheating on him or her.
Even if you don't get caught by the police, think of what your spouse will do to you if you are caught cheating.
Once you are married, you must not cheat on your spouse.
Of course, I would never cheat on my wife.
