Our Valentine's Day

Yesterday was Valentine's Day.
Valentine's Day, wedding anniversary, birthday, and Christmas are special days for our family.

In the Philippines, Valentine's Day is a day for both men and women to express their love to their partner, and men in particular are supposed to give red roses to women as a gift.
So I've decided to give flowers the Filipino way.

In the past, I have given fresh flowers as gifts. However, fresh flowers only last for a few days. It's a pity that love seems to fade away, so this time I decided to give her preserved flowers so that she can enjoy them for as long as possible.

Preserved flowers are flowers that have been decolorized by soaking fresh flowers in ethanol and then re-colored using a special glycerin solution that has been colored, so they will remain beautiful for several years.

A few days ago at dinner, my wife said, "February 14th is Valentine's Day." I asked her if she wanted me to make cookies this year instead of chocolates. I asked her if she wanted to make cookies this year instead of chocolates, and she said, "No problem, I'll make a cake.
At that time, I had already bought her a present, but I didn't tell her. Otherwise it wouldn't be a surprise, would it?

I gave the gift to my wife first thing in the morning and she was very happy.

In the afternoon, my wife started baking a cake, which took several hours to complete.
I cooked a pepperoncino with squid, shrimp, asparagus, and shimeji mushrooms, and we celebrated Valentine's Day together.

My wife has been watching her calories since last year, but on this day, she gave up her calorie counting and ended the evening with a cake after dinner.

It was a good Valentine's Day, not fancy, but peaceful.
Thank you for everything, my wife.
